EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK – EFAW
From 1st April 2021, it is a legal requirement of your SIA course for you to have an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.
- You can add the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification to your training package and this will be delivered on the first day of your course.
- You don’t need to add this qualification to your package if you already have a valid Emergency First Aid Qualification or equivalent from a course you attended in person (Online course certificates are not acceptable).
- Your certificate must have at least 1 year’s validity from your course start date.

DOOR SUPERVISOR TRAINING VS SECURITY GUARD TRAINING
A good question that we hear often is how a Door Supervisor Licence and a Security Guard Licence differ. Here we explain…
- A Door Supervisor Licence allows you to work BOTH as a door supervisor AND as a security guard
- A Security Guard Licence ONLY permits you to work in a Manned Guarding role.
From the above you can see that a Door Supervisor Licence will give you more career options and work opportunities. However, holding a Security Guard Licence is still very much a good choice.
